Summer Ordering Guide ☀️🍞
As summer is beginning to be in full swing I want to go over some of our ordering tips, shipping procedures and processes to help us all survive this (likely) hot season.
THE HEAT ☀️
When you order this summer, please keep your local weather in mind. Our bread is pretty sturdy but 100+ heat plus 80% humidity will be hard on any baked good - particularly an ancient grain Spelt bread with no preservatives! We cannot monitor the weather in every City and State we ship to so we are counting on you to either order during a break in the heat or choose to expedite your order (call us to coordinate). If you order during extreme heat and your order was delivered on time - you are taking full responsibility for it.
NOTES SECTION 📝
The notes section of the cart is a super handy spot to communicate with us! If you are going on vacation or if your order needs delayed or if you prefer UPS vs FedEx please enter all those details in the notes section at checkout. I promise, we cannot miss those!
DELIVERY 📦
We do our best to strategically ship every order we get in a manner where it will not get held up over a weekend. So please keep in mind that if you order Wednesday late in the day (EST), your order is not likely to ship until the following Monday.
UPON ARRIVAL 🧐
Make sure you allow all baked goods to come to room temperature (cool down) before you place them in the freezer. Inspect every item you receive carefully! If it arrives with visible mold on it and you reach out to us, we will require photos as we can use those to advocate with FedEx and UPS if packages were unnecessarily delayed. If your order arrives with items that have visible mold, our policy states that you need to contact us no later than 72 hours after delivery! Pictures are required. If your order arrives with moldy items and you throw them in the freezer without inspecting them and reach out 2 months later about mold, we will not be able to do anything. We stand by our products but all we ask is that you communicate with us in a timely manner so we're able to help!
SHIPPING TIME ⏰
Please keep in mind, there are areas of the country where it takes 4 days for orders to arrive. So for those of you used to one day shipping, a delay of a single day is not cause for alarm.
SMASHED BOXES 😬
Although it doesn't happen often, sometimes packages can get tossed around and beaten up. If this is the case with your delivery please reach out within 72 hours, provide pictures and we will ship a replacement as UPS and FedEx both allow for us to file claims in situations like this. Pictures are required!
Summer is by far our trickiest season and so we're asking for you to partner with us and to please do your best to order in a time where heat won't be a huge factor (in your area) and to communicate with us immediately if your order arrives in less than perfect condition.
Your support and cooperation will help us to continue to be able to keep our online store open all summer long.
As always thank you for being absolutely lovely, honest and honorable customers!
We appreciate you!
-Nicole, Nick and all of us at Berlin Natural Bakery

I would like to try your bread , but I live in a small town in kingstree SC.
If I ordered your flour would you happen to have recipes for your bread.

I just read your information about you shipping policies. Please keep in mind that I’ve never mentioned or make a comment about such things. But it is the most thoughtful, well put together, and personable bit of information that I’ve ever seen from a company. That to me carries a lot of weight and I’m sure you will have a lot of respectful clients buying your products, including me. Keep up the great work!
