The Heart of the New Year
Hello Berlin Natural Bakery!
I sure hope 2023 has been kind to you so far and that you had a peaceful, joyful, wonder-filled holiday season!
I know with all of the talk about resolutions all over the place, you probably don't want to hear from us but I have been pondering a few things and I would like to share them with you, if you'll indulge me.
I know many resolutions tend to focus on losing weight and I think that's kind of a natural thing especially if you were blessed enough to have a fairly indulgent, relaxed holiday season. And I also know there are a variety of ways people go about it - calorie counting/limiting being one of the major ones. But, I just want to encourage you (if you are in this type of mindset) to maybe consider zooming out and instead of making the focus on "getting smaller" or extreme restriction perhaps it's more about recognizing the quality of things in our lives and GROWING in our understanding and recognizing the roots of our habits or patterns.
Instead of trying to minimize yourself or simply not take up as much space - why not maximize your.. everything!?
I personally have been doing a lot of internal work on myself and I'm telling you - the more understanding and healing I gain, the more weight I lose! And that's not just physical weight. It is the weight of judgement from others or the weight of pain from past relationships or the weight of living up to someone else's expectations. I have always said "I want to be just like my Mom!" And while she is still absolutely my #1 hero and role model, I have learned that trying to be her does a disservice to me and my personal gifts! After all, she has always replied to my desire to be just like her with "you seriously need to raise your standards!" ;)
All that to say, I pray you have dreams and goals and hope for 2023 and that each of the things you desire comes to fruition for you in a natural, healthy and healing way!
To apply this to bread - I know so many people think that in order to lose weight they need to kick bread to the curb. And while they should absolutely dump the junk "bread type substances" on the grocery store shelf - I'd boldly make the argument that eating real, minimal ingredient Spelt bread can absolutely help fuel you on your health journey! As always, all things in moderation of course, but I'd be surprised to find a better nutritional food pairing out there than Spelt Sourdough and Avocado and a touch of onion and sea salt. (Or maybe that's just my personal preference!).
Here's what I know, we've heard from thousands of you how you just plain feel better when you consume our products. I personally can testify to that in my life. I cannot live without our Spelt breads every single day and I truly believe the complex carbs help me recover from my morning workouts. But even without the workouts, I have found that when I am eating real, nutrient rich foods - I feel better, I function better and I focus better. If you relate to this, I'd love to hear from you in the comments below!
With our Spelt breads - you are getting minimally processed, small batch baked, ancient grain bread. We add no preservatives, no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, no artificial vitamins. Our ingredients are minimal and recognizable. Our care is nothing short of maximum effort! Our heart is to continue fighting the good fight of providing solid, hearty, yummy Spelt breads and baked goods for every soul and family out there who needs them and/or recognizes the call to consume feel-good foods!
Now, with all that said, I know this isn't our normal style of content but I am feeling the call to put more out there about us, our mindset, our mission and our heart. So I sure hope you enjoyed this journey and for those of you that did, I look forward to connecting and sharing more with you!
As always, with all our very best,
Nicole & The Berlin Natural Bakery Family
