The End of a True Era - Karl & Cindy Have Retired

I know that so much of our correspondence has revolved around me (Nicole) my Mom (Joy), my Grandpa (John)  and my brother (Nick). But there are two people who have been a part of the beauty that is Berlin Natural Bakery for literal DECADES and they have officially retired.

While we're devastated, we're also SOOOOOOO happy for them and the days they have ahead! 

 

Cindy Widder has been a part of the Berlin Natural Bakery family since 1992 
Karl Widder has been a part of the Berlin Natural Bakery family since 2001
Cindy Widder has been an absolute pleasure to work with, learn from and laugh with these last 8 years. She is so unbelievably smart and has the capability to multitask that I truly admire. She can be reading an email, answering a verbal question and monitoring the office all at once without blinking an eye. She switches gears on a dime and has always been fun to tackle issues with. Her sense of humor is truly unmatched and her wit will be missed every day in our office. She is as kind as she is fierce. As compassionate as she is ruthless. A spectacular balance for a leader and friend. 
Karl Widder has been the glue that literally holds our facility together! His mind and creativity and dedication to holding everything together has truly been a blessing. He has saved us countless times over the years when something will give out or break or make a weird noise! In all my time at Berlin Natural Bakery, I have always breathed a little easier when it comes to maintenance and every day mechanics with Karl Widder on the job. He is just as wild as his wife - soooo quick to smile and laugh. His sarcasm is unmatched and what I like most about his sarcasm is that it is always done in play and love. Never harm. He's been an absolute pleasure to work, laugh and problem solve with. 
I truly think it is rare for a Husband/Wife team to work in such close quarters together for decades and do it well - actually - do it amazingly! Their friendship and mutual respect and love has survived the trenches of Berlin Natural Bakery and I truly admire the example they set for marriage being a team. Truly a one-of-a-kind match. 
Karl and Cindy have truly left their mark on all of us. They have fought a good fight, they have kept the faith and they have finished their race with excellence and should be very proud. There is no replacing a Karl or a Cindy but my brother and I - with the watchful eye of our Mom - will be doing our best to uphold their legacy and move the bakery forward as we are called to do!

Karl, Cindy - God bless you as you settle into your next adventure. I will never be able to thank you enough for all you have done, taught me and supported me in. My love to you both forever!

The bread speaks of the care of the company and staff. My family very quickly came to trust the products for consistency and wholesomeness, and a ‘good vibe’. It is a pleasure to learn something about the minds and character of two who fostered this company’s life and kept it in their hearts. Cindy and Karl and the whole family have been a pleasure to work with. Never is there a grouchy person answering the phone. Any problems (of which there have been few) are always taken seriously and quickly solved.

Ahhhh this makes me so sad but happy for them! Well deserved, job well done Cindy and Karl! I will always remember my days at the bakery! Those were the good old days, truly! Cindy was the best boss, so easy to work for! God bless you guys as you start this new adventure! Love you both! ❤️
